✖ HOWS MY DRIVING? ✖

New to the game? New characters? Just a little unsure of how you're doing? That's what this is here for, people.

How it works: Comment here - others will reply to that comment with what they have to say, and hopefully many lulz and happifuntimes will be had. We're encouraging asking questions if you don't know why or how a character got to the point they're at in game, and we're encouraging constructive criticism that isn't:

"Oh, you're so good bb!"
or
"I hate you. Diaf."

So make it good! You only get one shot every other month, right? At any rate, before you go off to comment, remember: You will get comments you agree with, and you will get comments you don't agree with; thus is the way of life. Don't take it personal. Don't get angry and start trolling. These people don't have anything against you as a person — unless, uh, they do, which we won't abide by — and we're all here to have fun, right? So let's act like it.

Anonymous comments have been temporarily enabled in the OOC community for the sake of anonymous crit, but as this privilege was abused last time and the moderators had to intervene, as promised this time around we are keeping logging IP on. We will not be checking the IP-addresses unless things get out of hand, nor will we be sharing them ever, but this is a measure in place to help prevent further abuse of anonymous commenting. If this causes discomfort, most players, as well as the mods, have personal HMDs on their journals. You are also free to contact any moderators privately or by PMing this account.

Go forth and conquer, Cape and Cowl.

Personal HMD link(s): Pietro, Stephen, Victor, Jason, Ollie, and Aoi. I've just checked them to make sure they're anon-enabled, but if I've missed one, ping me here? Some of the settings got messed up when I ported them over from LJ and it's taken me a while to notice. Whoops.
Anonymous allowed/encouraged? Y/N: Go for it.
Other comments? Pietro has been in the City for over two years, Stephen's been around for one and is taken from directly after his "de-supreme-ing", so to speak. I can't think of anything in particular for anybody else, but if you've got questions, feel free to ask.

I have some concerns about Jason, and I was hoping if I may ask of what direction you plan to take him in? As it stands now, he seems almost a parody of the character. All of his posts I can think of revolve around trolling some people, and goofy antics with Jessica. Most of his dealings with crime, as he does in canon, have mainly been handwaved. I also can't say I understand why there are plans for him to pick a fight with highschoolers at the prom, and steal a valuable treasure just to impress Jessica; the latter especially is like nothing he has done or would consider doing.

He also reads strangely in threads, from his humor and tone being rather flat, to doing odd things like continually correcting people's grammar a few times a while ago, and getting oddly angsty in Terry's post about asking about roommates, when he mentioned he wasn't easy to live with. Why would he bother replying, in that case? Obviously, Jason Todd isn't the most serious of characters, however, I'm not getting much of a sense of the dangerous and unstable criminal, or vigilante he should be. That considered, I'd like to see more of his intelligence, and him being the Red Hood.

Hey, anon, thank you for taking the time to comment. I very much appreciate the feedback.

The truth is that both the Star of India thing and the prom fight are things that Ali and I have had planned for several months (I think going back to January or so). I actually didn't even think about the timing back then, or that the two incidents would seem like they were in close succession, so I apologize if it seems like overload on the girlfriend-front. I planned those two things because I can't imagine why no one has broken into the Museum of National History as of yet, and the prom thing was something I discussed on my plurk ages ago and it got some positive feedback in concept. Again, I just didn't think about the timing very much there back when I made those plans.

Regarding his threads, I'm sorry that you find them flat. He's one of the easiest characters for me to tag with, since I really don't have to think too heavily about the lingo he would use. Therefore, it's possible I've simply been spamming his replies too quickly without giving them proper thought. With people like Doom or the Laughing Man, there's that second where I have to think how they would phrase something, not just the message behind the response. It's possible that since Jason speaks more plainly, I could stand to review his specific phrasing. Sorry for the longwindedness here, but I'll definitely give this one some thought.

Re: the grammar correction though, I believe that happened once in a main community post, once in a dear_mun post, and once in a character's phone post where the reply was specifically in text. None of the players involved approached me it being out of bounds, so I didn't think anything of it, and I'm relatively sure he hasn't done it again since. Once again, I think the sense that grammar is one of his "fallback quips", so to speak, just happens to be because they happened in close succession (over two days, if memory serves).

Jason replied to Terry's post because he's currently living with Carrie in Terry's old apartment (as I understand it). He was curious to scope Terry out since he's obviously important to Carrie, and slightly worried that he might have to find another place to live since Terry would be pretty well within his bounds to move back in and I can't image that apartment being a huge space. I'm sorry if the specifics of that thread weren't entirely clear to you, but that's what was up with his replies.

On the subject of Red Hood; I have alluded to Jason's drug dealing/criminal activities in his posts and his conversations with others. In canon, he has the backing of Talia al Ghul and half of the development wing of Bruce's company. Talia was in the City for a few months and plans were made there that I'll admit, I wasn't the quickest to follow up on after she was dropped. However, without her support, he's essentially having to build a criminal empire from the ground up. Further, without her influence, he has less of a motivation to be "a better Batman", and organically, Jason's only real target from his canon pull point is the Joker and Bruce. Again, this is getting long, and I'd definitely like to show more of his crime lord side. I'm definitely aware that I've been underplaying that aspect of his existence in the City.

Once again, thank you very much for the feedback. I really do appreciate you coming forward with these concerns. If you have any other questions about Jason (or any of my other characters), I'll be happy to answer them for you. And um, I'm very sorry this has gotten so long.
