import goodwill campaign brainstorming post!

Hello everyone! There's been some discussion both ICly in game and OOCly about ways that imPorts can take a stand against Vulcanus that aren't necessarily through fighting/battle means. A few ideas have been floated. Here's some ideas that have come up so far:

- A presentation to the United Nations
- A series of PSAs featuring imPort celebrities and native celebrities sympathetic to imPort causes
- Letters to newspapers/a series of op-ed pieces
- A pro-imPort march or rally
- imPort Con: a convention featuring imPorts from various walks of life, highlighting their individual contributions to the world, both great and small, featuring demonstrations, panels, as well as interviews with imPorts about their lives in the City
- imPort Telethon: a widely broadcast telethon hosted by imPorts featuring performances and presentations, allowing Cityzens to call and interact with imPorts while raising funds for charity

So far our ideas have focused heavily on winning over hearts and minds in an attempt to prevent anti-imPort sympathies from spreading, but it certainly doesn't have to be limited to this agenda! I'd like to really gauge interest in some of these ideas, see what others we can come up with, and hopefully get the ball rolling on some neat plot ideas that can involve a wide variety of characters! I look forward to seeing what ideas we can come up with and hope we can pursue any of them that seems viable! c:

I love both the march/rally and the con! I remember Magic Con back in the day and that was a lot of fun with good CR opportunities. I can see it working well.

Same for the march or rally, really. I'd like to see something that could potentially get a lot of characters involved rather than a select few.

Also I feel wrong saying it with this account, but for another idea, what about something like a charitable event? Like ImPorts getting together to clean up the City, pick up litter, take soccer schools, that kind of thing. Something that would let them reach out to the community and help out in a local and tangible way?

this amuses me because it's pretty much episode....8? of Tiger&Bunny. I forget which one. But they do a Hero PR campaign, picking up litter, visiting nursing home, etc. I would love to do that in the City. XD

Oh, also one of those cheesy call in charity thingies. ImPort host with various celebrity ImPorts on the phones and ImPorts and celebrities alike doing various vaudeville style acts to rake in callers.

It gets to a point they're just pulling people off the street they think are ImPorts, handing them various props, shoving them in front of the cameras, and telling them to do something cool!

Well I know Mitch does a lot of work running headline politically, mostly on the political end, though. So a lot of it is with Senators, governors, most of the politicians in the US, but I would be up to doing some UN stuff, since uh, he has a good relationship with the UN and his history with them.

I'd definitely like Hank to get involved with that angle, if you'd be down for plotting. The idea came up from something he and Max were talking about after the finished that goodwill tour last summer, but it's certainly more relevant now than it's ever been.

Of course I am! I was thinking maybe Mitch could lay the foundation for a big presentation, and talk it up with the Secretary General. He's pretty good at that UN speech thing heh heh

sorry it took me a little while to get back to this, been feeling a little braindead today. but anyway, at this point the presentation i was thinking is pretty much making the case for official condemnation of vulcanus, getting their support in going after them using all the evidence they've accrued over these past months

it'll take some research into the procedures necessary to get a thing like that done, and to work out how to make that actually playable for the people involved

I adore the idea of an imPortCon, and of the PSAs -- things that let the average, everyday Cityzen see and talk with imPorts, and get to know them and view them as human beings. There would certainly, from an RP perspective, be a lot more NPCing than with the charity balls and things, but I think it's also a lot fresher and more unique.

Just throwing out a couple ideas... I really like the ones that have been proposed thus far!

Maybe some peaceful cultural events, like art shows, book signings or readings, plays or other performances, to promote imPort awareness.

An imPort PR council (if we don't already have one), dedicated to maintaining good relationships between imPorts and Cityzens.

City beautification, dedication of a park or new green spaces, or public gardens.

a sort of pr council is an idea angie and hank were actually bouncing around in her post, in the initial stages just to brainstorm ways to go about something like this. kiritsugu's name came up as one of their candidates, in fact

Ah, I see. And that's great! I'd absolutely love for Kiritsugu to get involved with something like that, in some capacity. It would be especially great for him to do something peaceful, since he's been trying to get/stay away from violence.

Well, aside from Val trying to invent psychohistory (DO NOT FOR THE LOVE OF GOD LET HER DO THIS) the supergeniuses could probably be persuaded to come up with some trivial quality-of-life enhancing stuff. Like, I don't know, an algorithm for the City stoplights that cuts down on traffic, or other things that are improvements on existing tech that wouldn't be giving Vulcanus an advantage if they got their hands on it.
