SUP, C&C! This is just a minor OOC organization post. As per Bradbury's most recent post, he's looking for imPorts to hire for City Hall's security team. Thus far, characters whose names have been floated, or who've expressed interest (and who he'll talk to if he hasn't already) are:

IF I MISSED ANYONE or if you'd like your character to get in on this somehow (it's never too late to make Bradbury's life full of miserable frustration) just let me know - or if you wanted to get them in but can't think of a reason to, let me know and we can hash something out! Things to get out of the way:

PROSPECTIVE CANDIDATES! Are you interested in quicklogging your interview, or would you prefer to just handwave/discuss what goes down, including hashing out whether your character actually gets hired or not? Monet is sitting in on the interviews, because yay telepathy. The interview's going to be pretty much bog-standard 'tell us about yourself and why we should hire you' plus a bit of 'show us what you can do.' Additionally, you might want to coordinate with...

X-FACTOR! City Hall is hiring you to look into whether these sad saps are fit for government work or have any skeletons in their closet! Let's uhhh talk about whether there's any dirt that can be dug up on them? WOW I AM BAD AT THIS PART.

With the age plot coming up on Oct 3, probably the only concern is when the heck all of this is happening! I'm pretty flexible with whatever dates work with you guys; it really depends on how soon you wanna get your character in at City Hall. It also depends on how much of this you'd like to log out. I'm cool with back-dating logs as necessary, or just... engaging in really long discussions about what needs to happen, haha!

Umm umm. Quicklogging would be cool. Aoi has an electronic/cyber brain so idk how well he'll take to telepathy. Or rather, how well it will work on him. I guess it's up to Betsey and how Monet's specific telepathy works? Idk, I'll defer to you guys on that.

Either way! Aoi "broke" the network as part of the Lachesis-Moves-to-DW plot back in February. Other than that, he attended the Xavier Institute last year as "Aoi Suzuki", a 17 year old imPort student. He's actually 24, but I don't think there's any record of that either on the network or elsewhere on the internet. He's very vocal about his fondness for books, particularly works that have been banned frequently, and he's active on several image board (2chan style) websites in both English and Japanese. Usually he talks about books or politics. When it's politics it's mostly about how corporate hotshots are phony bastards and destroying the world for their own benefit.

And that's pretty much it, as I remember, anyway.

and wow aoi has a nice and colorful history!!! :|a incidentally, because of mitch's issues with aoi (though bradbury will talk him into letting him on anyway) as well as his open disdain for his boss, his contract with city hall is gonna be a bit stricter than the average employee's; violation of any of the ground rules (non-disclosure of sensitive info etc) can result in him being fired instantly. mitch is also going to insist that he isn't to be watched/monitored (ie. no cameras/surveillance equip in his office and the area immediately surrounding it, as well as gracie mansion).

OTHER THAN THAT, though, welcome to the team. :') Let's make Mitch's life suffering together.

I do not! I'm gearing up for comic con, so I'm a little slow at the moment. Sometime prior to kidplot might be nice? But I can backtag if it gets too much later than that. Also, Aoi won't be effected by kidplot so it's kind of moot point for him, but idk how everyone else is handling that. Basically, I'm cool with whatever, but depending on when it falls in the month, I might be terribly slow/non-present for 4-6 days or so.

Aoi will try and argue that if something were to happen, the lack of cameras would hinder any ability to catch the perpetrators, but whatever whatever it's Mitch's funeral.

And yes. Mitch's suffering totally wasn't his plan all along...

so i don't THINK i'm missing anything but if i remember right Monet's never had any success at reading mechanical-ish-minds. it probably depends on how much of his brain is human as to whether she could even skim! idk his background too well so it is totally up to you as to whether she can read surface level human-shaped parts of his brain or none of it. this would definitely raise red flags for her and she would mention it, so idk how Bradbury would take that!

Bradbury's already aware Aoi is a huge security risk, but he's confident he and Mitch could shut him down if they ever had to. The benefits of having someone already wired into the network are pretty big to his mind, though, so it's a case of pros and cons and KEEPING A CLOSE EYE ON THE FUCKER

Um um. Well, somewhere between 80% and 97.5% of Aoi's brain is actually made up of inorganic, electronic components, so I don't know how well Monet would be able to read off of that. Persons with extreme cyberization are supposed to have more powerful emotions (like emotional surges when discussing something that interests them as opposed to just a constant current), and difficulty connecting to people outside of an internet chat/skype type environment. She's welcome to read both of those things from him, and pick up on hideously abnormal/distancing body language. Everything about him physically reads that he's quiet and probably doesn't play well with others.

tl;dr!! Are surges of emotion alright, or would you like more? If you want distinct thoughts, it's always possible that cyberbrains are just that good (telepaths don't exist in GITS so idek how to handle this really) or maybe Lachesis screwed with his systems. We can make this work, basically.

Considering throwing Bight at this, perhaps as a specialist given his skill in magic. It would be something of a difference to his prior line of work, that is being governor of a city, he does have experience in the workings of security in a sense with the Governor's guards. His knowledge of combat and communications is however somewhat limited in the fact that Krynn is basically a fantasy medieval world in technology level.

There is also the fact that he's a dragon, although that part in particular he'll be leaving out.

That would actually work out well, given that the issue of investing in supernatural defense has been raised! Bradbury's been able to find muscle and brains already (he's completing his RPG party). Being a specialist would work -- what were you thinking of having him set up?

Has he mentioned the fact that he's a dragon anywhere/to anyone and/or would X-Factor be able to to find out? There's also Monet's telepathy to consider, but I don't know if she could suss that fact out without actively trying to.

As for dirt on Ben, I don't think there's a whole lot on the Network except obviously that he's the Thing of Fantastic Four fame, but not from the universe most of the Marvel characters are from. He's from the same place as his bff Reed Richards (who has been accused of being a psycho crazy genocidal supervillain, which is true, but since he's from later in the timeline than Ben is, he don't know etc etc). His powers used to be superstrength and invulnerability because he was a giant rock, but now he glows purple instead and has the same powers, plus some kinda crazy energy disruption dealio that makes him able to pass through forcefields and crap... He also killed Dr. Doom in his universe for Reed and THAT KINDA MESSED HIM UP, which is why he joined the military.

i am totally down for quicklogging interviews just because i think they'd be hilarious. damian is canonly trained against psychic intrusion, but i want to say it's to a point where he can keep his surface thoughts available while hiding more pertinent things (ie, secret identities). but i will leave that up to betsy's discretion!

as for skeletons, damian does a pretty good job of keeping his idenities separate on the network. so basically there's family stuff to dig up, that he has connections to several rich and/or important people who may or may not be in the city at any given moment. also that he's kind of a jerk. but yeah, most of his ~important activities~ are done behind the mask.

as for timing, i'm good with starting something this week and backdating, or waiting until the age plot is over. either way is good.

Also, is Damian in school/does he have other priorities? Mostly for the technical note of knowing whether Bradbury's gonna expect him to work full-time (even if it feels like CHILD LABOR) or part-time. Since it's a security job, the hours are flexible anyway. DISREGARD SEE EDIT.

re: getting the log up: I'll wait for other people to get back to me on that, but I personally lean on getting interviews IC'ly done before age plot, then the "CONGRATS UR HIRED" can come after that, so they officially start work on Monday.

ETA: OH RIGHT BY THE WAY since Damian is like significantly underage (well, for Bradbury's standards) if he does accept the job he'll only be hired on as a security intern on a technicality, instead of an actual member of the team. In practice, of course, he can work as much or as little as he might want to, but that'll be his official designation and he won't be expected to work full-time.

ALSOx2, since Tim might be interested in signing on, MAYBE THIS IS SOMETHING HILARITY CONFLICT CAN COME FROM THAT so do you wanna work something out?

Because that's pretty much Red's favorite thing ever. Seriously. His life revolves around it. Kinda why he's the Autobot's security director.

So yeah, I'd LOVE to have him in on this. I have no problem with quicklogging an interview, though it will probably be the shortest interview ever since Red has been in the security field longer than the human race has existed, so he's most likely got all the experience/credentials Bradbury could possibly ask for.

MORE NON-ORGANICS FOR CITY HALL, JOY OF JOYS

HMMM, Bradbury doesn't necessarily have anything against Red Alert working with City Hall, but there's something of a conflict of interest as Starscream (yes, that Starscream!) is currently working there as well. While Bradbury might not know a lot about Transformers, he knows the two types don't get along well. How would Red Alert generally react to knowing he'll have to deal with a Decepticon as a co-worker? Would Red Alert even want to work with anyone who'd willingly hire a Decepticon?

Note that if it's going to significantly compromise his performance or attitude to the job/the boss in some way, Bradbury's going to be reluctant about taking him on (or at least will expect a stricter standard of performance from him/keep a closer eye on him, like he does for Aoi).

I think it's certainly possible for him to be unaware of Damian's interest if he wasn't tracking the threads on Bradbury's post very closely! Damian was recommended for an interview by Larsa.

ALSO if Tim is underage (I CAN NEVER TELL WITH DC CHARACTERS) he'll officially be hired as a Security Intern instead of full timer.
