Great PLOTS of Land

Salutations CnC!

Have I got a plot for you! November 15th several imPorts of the city are going to be putting on a little festival in the spirit of heroic fellowship. The location is TBA.

Or otherwise known as HERO CAMP!

Its a completely free and voluntary festival of training and cooperation lasting three days. The intention is to give those imPorts who come from mundane backgrounds a chance to temper themselves into the best heroes they can be. Not to mention to bring the imPort community together and celebrate their unique and growing culture.

HOW THIS WORKS:

For all intents and purposes this will act like an open log, but organized by volunteers to offer training on their select craft or trade. Volunteers come in many types.

Teachers: These are any imports with skills, techniques, tactics, etc that can be taught or passed on to fellow imports. Weapon training, hand to hand, magic, first aid, power tactics, everything is viable. Heck, if you just want to stand on a box and lecture people about the values of being a hero or hold a Q&A about the history of Vulcanus, GO FOR IT! Make a log and teach those that tag you your skills!

Students: Grasshopper! These are any imPorts interested in being taught. (Dur) While three days isn't enough to become a grandmaster of the chosen skill, at least (with practice) you can learn the basics. Freely tag any log you think your character would be interested in learning. Or, do you see a familiar face? Go bug them while they are trying to focus. Go on. You know you want to.

Sponsor/vendor: Maybe you aren't the fighting type. Or you just have an eye for opportunity! With so much of the community coming together for an event like this, setting up shop would be a great way to get your name/Shop/Company/Organization out there for the imPort world to see. Want to be there to patch up those inevitable boo boos us rowdy hero-types are going to accumulate? Set up a first aid tent! Or maybe you have a shop/resturant/bar and realize the importance of product placement. Join the food court! Either as a donation to the community or for a "fair" price! We're all looking out for each other, right?

Other: Practically anything you can think of that doesn't already fall into a role described above. Its a festive event, so why not just chill out with your buddies and have a good time. But maybe you have other intentions. Secret intentions. Heck, if I was covertly looking to recruit new members into my Organization, this is the place I would look. And what about you not so Paragon members of the community? Can you think of a better way to gauge the strength of other imPorts that may try and stand in your way at some point down the road?

NOTICE: This is an open invitation event to ALL of the heroic community. Rumor has a certain NPC vigilante group(*coughPhantasmcough*) might be crashing the party. Characters are free to react as they see fit.

This isn't necessarily a sign up post, but feel free to drop a comment with what you think your character might be able to offer or any questions you might have! Especially if its a flavor addition.

I'm also down for any suggestions or plotting ideas you might have.

yeah, either hand to hand or weapon. if the latter, she'd bring her own weapons (wooden, because somewhere hank is seething at her for even considering real weapons)

Yako will certainly be signing up as a student for more physically-oriented skills! AND NO I DONT CARE IF THIS IS THE WRONG ACCOUNT... She'd offer "lessons" but "being perceptive" is hard to teach.

Bradbury might also get involved in this, but I'll get back to you on that...

Abed is going to be all over learning a thing for this festival! He'll probably go for first aid or power tactics or something. I'll figure it out when logs roll around.

He'd also be really interested in finding or putting together a thing about imPort representation in the media in this dimension! Which would probably be half about his totally definitely v. subtle encouragement to push for an imPort-based reality TV show. He really wants that show so he can watch it guys. Or maybe he'll look for a Cougar Town fan club while he's at it.
coolcubed: (∂ put a little love in it)

I'm still trying to figure out exactly what to do with the media representation thing or how a setup could get together for the festival. I just know that Abed knows that movies and television can have a lot of impact on how a person filters or perceives certain things, and he's got a superhero-movie-buff investment in imPorts and natives all being on the level/seeing general acceptance in all of society sorts of things.

He also probably figures that would be a pretty cool storyline to work the city up to somehow, and he's already got a buttload of interest in media: so he'd figure that getting more of the right image out there for imPorts would be a big deal. "We're people just like you" or "we are probably generally mostly not evil," etc. More good exposure in general! Pushing for imPort-heavy TV shows and actors and talk show hosts because of his personal interests in trying to map out plots for entire cities! Kind of. Stuff.

I don't know if it's already a thing that people have set up in the past or are currently doing with their characters. I've only been around for about 4 months so it's possible I could have missed seeing it at some point!

oh my god Abed has to talk to Tiger about HeroTV. :3
coolcubed: (∆ supar intense aliens)

[personal profile] coolcubed 2013-11-07 05:45 am (UTC)(link)
lfmsdlfs yes he does. Man, that would be exactly the kind of thing he is interested in talking about and pushing up! Making superheroes look cool and respectable and exciting all at once.
wild_roar: (tiger - let's roll)

[personal profile] wild_roar 2013-11-07 05:50 am (UTC)(link)
Let's do it! Tiger will be attempting to train people and generally derping around, he can poke at the suit and his corporate sponsors.
coolcubed: (∂ or-- Night Rider.)

[personal profile] coolcubed 2013-11-07 06:06 am (UTC)(link)
Tiger, the coolest and most helpful of heroes, who also has a really cool suit. Abed will probably also ask for an autograph tbqh. I'll be sure to toss him Tiger's way when the festival rolls around!

[personal profile] notadartboard 2013-11-07 06:34 am (UTC)(link)
you know, it might be time to try to get something like this rolling. I thought there wasn't a good opportunity but Kotetsu does work as an actor, he might have connections that we could play with.
wild_roar: (tiger - dramatic pose)

[personal profile] wild_roar 2013-11-07 05:33 am (UTC)(link)
I am still all over this yes please. Wild Tiger can show up in his suit and pretend like he's the world's best mentor. He is good at being encouraging, at least.

Minako will absolutely be there as a student! She's always interested in learning a little more, especially since... she's mostly self-taught...

Can I ask about this Phantasm-crashing-the-party mention? Seeing as how Kurt's currently the school's Headmaster, and I didn't know that this was even taking place there, much less potentially dealing with one of the vigilante groups... It's kind of something I'd like a little more information about.

I did say earlier that Kurt/The Institute would be happy to offer the facilities and staff, which remains true. I'm just a little peeved to find out now that this is happening at the Institute when I was told it would likely be happening in Central Park, and that was the last I heard about it. As the player of the character who runs the school, I should think the change in venue is something I deserve a heads-up about. Just for future reference.

[personal profile] themisfit 2013-11-09 11:26 am (UTC)(link)
Again, Kurt would be on board in providing the Institute as a host, so I don't see the need to change the venue. It's an ICly ideal location and all... There are a couple of things to keep in mind regarding that, however. The first would be that the 15th is a school day, so any festivities would have to be pretty low-key.

I'm also not adverse to Phantasm's showing up, if that's what folks want. On an IC-level, however, Kurt would be very uncomfortable with supporting their whole civilian-vigilante-justice shtick via things like weapons training and, indirect or not, encouragement towards their tactics. He also wouldn't want them linked back to the Institute's functions, should their crime-fighting cause harm in any way. He'd be pretty quick to try and filter them and ship 'em out, rather than be sympathetic.

[personal profile] boobwindow 2013-11-10 01:26 am (UTC)(link)
If Kurt would be alright with it, I can have Peej show up and while she's always one of those mentor types who is usually okay with people learning how to fight provided it's through proper means, she can offer to help maintain control of the situation in case anything gets out of hand. She's also not too caught up with Phantasm, so this would be a good time for someone to point out they've messed up more than enough times for people to be rightfully wary!
themisfit: (tread carefully)

[personal profile] themisfit 2013-11-10 01:07 pm (UTC)(link)
That'd be a-okay. He wouldn't be so paranoid about them having access to basic self-defense or anything like that, so long as there are folks to keep an eye on them and potentially offer a stern word or two where necessary.

[personal profile] fronttowardenemy 2013-11-10 02:26 am (UTC)(link)
Seconding Nita! I can offer crowd control. Although I think the general idea behind the Phantasm crashing the party is indeed to make people uncomfortable, for the added drama, rather than the idea of supporting them in any way. I very much doubt anyone is expecting to train them... except to mock them.
themisfit: (Default)

[personal profile] themisfit 2013-11-10 01:10 pm (UTC)(link)
That sounds good, as I said above! I just wanted to be clear about Kurt's POV, as he'd likely make himself a busybody over assuring things go off without a hitch.

But don't mock 'em either, guys. This is how hapless super villains are born. D:

Power Girl will be showing up to this! Probably offer to teach someone how to throw a good punch or kick. Or just how much power to exert when doing so. She's mentoring her own team at her pull point, so she can be pretty good at it.
