✖ So... what is this?
This form is your ticket to any canon updates or other shifts, as well as power adjustments.

✖ How does this work IC?
In game, a character getting a canon point changed or power set adjusted can only do so by whim of the Porter. As such, they will mysteriously disappear, having been "exPorted." Because this is the same process characters disappear by in the circumstance of drops, it can leave quite a bit of confusion and anxious feelings for those left behind!

✖ How long will my character be gone?
A minimum of 24 hours! While there is no set maximum length, an update of this kind has no effect on a character's monthly activity requirements.

That wasn't a question!

✖ Fine. What can you tell me about canon adjustments?
Better! There's a few different kinds, though the most popular is of course the canon update. This is where a character "returns" to their source material to the moment they last remember, and lives through some amount of the story before being brought back to the City. While in their home canon, characters will not remember their time in the City, nor will they take anything home with them -- that obviously didn't happen in the original story! They are then brought back to the City with their new memories and experiences, as well as a sudden flood of recalling what happened to them the last time they were here.

✖ Wait, back up. What other kinds of canon adjustments are there?
These ones are less popular due to their heavy cost, but are possible. Characters may also be rewound, or pushed backwards in their canon to an earlier time, e.g., moving from Season 8 to Season 2. They may also be exchanged for the same character from a different version of the canon, e.g., trading the book version of a character to their more campy interpretation in a stage musical. The last of these, a character may have their canon source and pull point remain otherwise stable, but be given a "hard reset." In each of these cases, the character will lose all memories and CR acquired in the game setting. This process cannot be reversed, so be careful before choosing this!

✖ What if my character has been in-game longer than they'll spend in their canon? Will they come back to the City younger than they left?
Nope! It's a little complicated to explain, but basically the character will return to the City in the body that reached the higher age. For an example, let's say a character arrives in the City at age 25, lives here for three years, and is ported out for a canon update at age 28. When she returns to her canon she will be 25 again. Her new pull-point is a year later, age 26. However, when she returns the City, she will once again be 28 -- though probably wearing the same outfit as her 26-year-old self.

✖ And if my character has gone through other physical changes in the City?
That's more up to you! If you'd like your character to keep their City-inflicted face scars, or braces, or robot limbs, you can! If you'd rather wipe that slate clean, that is fine as well. Just be sure to let the game know in OOC, so we're all on the same page!

✖ Tell me abo--... what can you tell me about power updates?
This one is pretty straight-forward! If you ever want to drop a power from your character's set, add a new one, or adjust the scope of it, this is where you request that! Power changes made here are subject to the same three-umbrella restrictions as found on the application page.

✖ Can I do both at once?
Yep! You can even tie them into the death-and-resurrection process, so long as you've already scheduled their date with the reaper.

✖ 'How are update requests evaluated?
On a case-by-case basis! More information or revisions may be requested based on the changes being made. The greater the change in power or personality, the greater the scrutiny. Changes of great significance are more accepted after a character has been in-game a long time versus just having been apped, but there is no hard rule here.

✖ Anything else I need to know?
You are required to post a public notice to capeandcowlooc to announce your character's departure, their estimated time of return, as well as cover what all will be changing. You can be a little sparse on the details if you want to keep something a surprise, but it can't be a complete secret. Additionally, you should comment on the registration page if your character's powers are changing, so that can be updated on the character list.

Remember, the more detail you give us to start, the easier the process will go!

I would however like more details on the capabilities of the escape pod: how many people can fit in it, does it have any weapons or tractor beams or other stuff, can it do anything besides fly through space?
