The fear and violence some people showed during the Skrull plot without even knowing for sure what a Skrull was other than here say along with being tortured as a 'possible alien' have made him a bit closed off lately and also pushed him to decide that he will no longer hide his own alien origins or go out of his way to pass for human. He may get the ptsd and undirected rebellion out of his system before too long, though.
