Sure! Thanks for the question!

The flippancy she displayed was intentional. Jessica is a flippant person. She sometimes does things without considering other people's feelings for even a second, and on more than one occasion she's offended her friends (both in canon and in game) by being completely oblivious to their emotions. While she is a schemer and loves to plot and make plans, she can also be very impulsive, doing things because they amuse her right-then-in-that-second. Thus she doesn't always make wise choices, and a lot of time she won't learn from those bad choices at all. Chances are she will do something else that is thoughtless and cruel in the future, whether or not the people she considers her friends will still have the patience to call her out on this is to be determined.

She also has a skewed view on how death works in this City and on how serious any of this actually is. In her world, only dweebs read comic books, and since a lot of what goes on here in the City are based on the comics she'd make fun of someone for reading in her world, she has a difficult time truly appreciating that any of this stuff is actually dangerous. Combine this with the fact that death isn't permanent and the fact that known evil-doers are routinely let out of jail (she saw Adam West's Batman as a kid, she knows the Penguin is bad news!) it's hard for her to accept that anything really bad has serious consequences in this world.

Additionally, she loves attention, even if it's negative. By making that post, she was ensuring that everyone on the Network knew that she was watching the news coverage of the battle. That was her way of saying 'HEY I'M PARTICIPATING IN THIS TOO YOU GUYS!!! LOOK AT ME!!!' while still maintaining a safe distance from the actual danger. Even in inappropriate settings, she likes to have the spotlight on her.

Basically her thinking was along the lines of, a) It's a big comic book battle against crazy alien villains and the good guys always win in comic books so there's really nothing to worry about; b) even if anyone does get killed, they'll be back in a week and everything will go back to normal just like it always does; c) it's Saturday night and the TV shows I like have all been preempted by the news. I'm bored, I wonder if anyone else is as bored as me and I wish people were paying attention to me instead.

I hoped this helped to clarify! If there's anything else I can try to explain, please let me know! :)
