New to the game? New characters? Just a little unsure of how you're doing? That's what this is here for, people.

How it works: Comment here - others will reply to that comment with what they have to say, and hopefully many lulz and happifuntimes will be had. We're encouraging asking questions if you don't know why or how a character got to the point they're at in game, and we're encouraging constructive criticism that isn't:

"Oh, you're so good bb!"
or
"I hate you. Diaf."

So make it good! You only get one shot every other month, right? At any rate, before you go off to comment, remember: You will get comments you agree with, and you will get comments you don't agree with; thus is the way of life. Don't take it personal. Don't get angry and start trolling. These people don't have anything against you as a person — unless, uh, they do, which we won't abide by — and we're all here to have fun, right? So let's act like it.

Anonymous comments have been temporarily enabled in the OOC community for the sake of anonymous crit, but as this privilege was abused last time and the moderators had to intervene, as promised this time around we are keeping logging IP on. We will not be checking the IP-addresses unless things get out of hand, nor will we be sharing them ever, but this is a measure in place to help prevent further abuse of anonymous commenting. If this causes discomfort, most players, as well as the mods, have personal HMDs on their journals. You are also free to contact any moderators privately or by PMing this account.

I will make it clear though, I haven't been feeling like I'm doing all that great of a job with Jade. I really need to canon review but rereading all of Homestuck (since there's a lot I forgot) can be quite the chore.

Hmm, well Casey already dropped you some links with the pesterchum conversations already! So reviewing those will definitely help. For me personally I haven't seen any issues with Jade's actions. You do a fine job with her reactions and actions and all that in the threads we've had/the ones I've read with you and other people! But sometimes her speech does seem a little off. It sounds a little formal at times, and not as excitable as she does in canon. It's the syntax and word choice more than the things she's saying. Which I think reading over pesterchum conversations will definitely help you clear those up.

I know for me personally for a lot of the Homestuck characters I rp I end up actually having to have one of their conversations open in another window while I'm rping them, because they I can look over and see how they write things, like what order they put words in, what contractions they typically use, which slang words, etc. Which I can't promise works for everyone, but Homestuck characters are pretty tricky sometimes, so it could help make you feel more comfortable when rping her!

Yeah, that's part of my problem with Jade. I'll give that a try and see if it doesn't help a bit. But yeah...really need to canon review lol.

Yeah, I can get that. I really need to get around to doing one too. THOUGH the good news with Jade at least is that besides a couple pesterchum conversations you can pretty much skip over the first act (two... acts?) I forget when she showed up exactly :( It's been a hell of awhile since I read it from the start to the end too.

Her official intro is in act three. But she has at least one conversation before then, I think.

But I still need to do a full review because wow, nothing really stuck the first time through lol.

Yes! She and John definitely talk at least once before then I know. I think maybe more than that but not totally sure.

Yeah, all that stuff. Plus I have a hard time remembering who all she talked to before her pull point. I was trying to make a list but then I lost my list... c_c;

OH! Troll wise? I think I remember most of this. Karkat, Tavros, Kanaya, Eridan and Feferi in a dream bubble thing? Nepeta also hinted that she'd spoken with Jade at some point, but we never see their conversation on screen. And obviously all three beta kids and Davesprite (even if that wasn't until after they all got on the ship). But I thiiiiink that's it.

Yeah. That was pretty much who I had listed as well but I wasn't sure if there were any of the other Trolls she'd talked with. :\a

I don't think so. I think Aradia only spoke with Rose, and Sollux never spoke with anyone. Equius and Gamzee only to Dave... Vriska only to John, Terezi hit up everyone but Jade. The only one I'm kind of iffy on is Aradia, but I think it was only Rose, and then a dead Dave she spoke with. So your list pretty much nailed it!

Nah! You're definitely good. Which is pretty impressive because it's crazy easy to get mixed up who talks to who. I could not for the life of me tell you which trolls have canonly spoken to each other.

Yeah it is, which is why I was so unsure.

I probably can't either, honestly. I barely paid attention to most of the characters. Heck when I was going to app I was torn between Terezi and Jade so they were the only two I really paid much attention to.

Ahaha I get that completely, I do that when I'm reading most American comics, just completely focus on one character and whatever issues they're in.

I'm glad that you realize what's going on with Jade, because there's SUCH a difference in activity between Kenzi and Jade: Kenzi's super duper active while Jade's just kind of active. Best of luck with canon reviewing the brick that is Homestuck!

Aside from that, I haven't seen Lost Girl, but I love Kenzi so so so much. c:

I'm hoping canon review helps. I really do love Jade but heh, I feel like if there's someone else that would do a better job at her and wants to pick her up I should just drop.

As far as activity goes Kenzi's just easier to get into and has something to say about just about anything (hence why she's so active on the comm). While I'm sure Jade could do the same it's just harder for me to find it. :\

While we don't have any CR, I've got a passing familiarity with Homestuck, and my concerns with Jade's voice (quirks of speech, how she seems a little more formal than she is in canon) have already been covered by previous comments. Since you're already planning a canon review, there's not too much more advice I can add to that.

Activity-wise I really would love to see more of Jade! I think the threads she's had out-of-cast were really cute. Red Alert and with Diana/Zatanna come to mind particularly, but they were triggered by similar pings (pets were involved with both posts). While you say you're not feeling like you've done a great job with Jade, perhaps tagging around more and getting to test her voice by playing off different characters would help you get a more well-rounded feel for her as a character? Jade seemed like a girl with quite a few hobbies/interest in canon, as well as a very curious and active mind.

Yeah, I've been trying to tag out more but like I've said to other people finding Jade's voice is a lot harder than Kenzi's. Hopefully a canon review will help.
