How it works: Comment here - others will reply to that comment with what they have to say, and hopefully many lulz and happifuntimes will be had. We're encouraging asking questions if you don't know why or how a character got to the point they're at in game, and we're encouraging constructive criticism that isn't:
"Oh, you're so good bb!"
or
"I hate you. Diaf."
So make it good! You only get one shot every other month, right? At any rate, before you go off to comment, remember: You will get comments you agree with, and you will get comments you don't agree with; thus is the way of life. Don't take it personal. Don't get angry and start trolling. These people don't have anything against you as a person — unless, uh, they do, which we won't abide by — and we're all here to have fun, right? So let's act like it.
Anonymous comments have been temporarily enabled in the OOC community for the sake of anonymous crit, but as this privilege was abused last time and the moderators had to intervene, as promised we are keeping logging IP on. We will not be checking the IP-addresses unless things get out of hand, nor will we be sharing them ever, but this is a measure in place to help prevent further abuse of anonymous commenting. If this causes discomfort, most players, as well as the mods, have personal HMDs on their journals. You are also free to contact any moderators privately or by PMing this account.
Go forth and conquer, Cape and Cowl.

Other comments?
Hank has ended up in prison and then NOHoPE as a result of two mind-altering plots. He stayed mostly
on principle and a lot of lingering guilt.
I know Vic has been pretty inactive lately, and I'm sorry about that. I've just been kinda short on
things for him to do for a while.
If you have questions about anything else, I'll be glad to field them for you!

the only downside is it's distracted me a bit from throwing hank at him too, but i'll make sure not to slack too badly on that now that he's not moping so much o7

I expect many of the X-Men characters to be uncomfortable with Erik, and he ICly expects those things too-- Hank in particular, since they weren't even on the best standing with each other in XMFC. But it was somewhat off-putting to me when I read a thread between Hank and Quentin where Hank was saying flat-out that Erik doesn't want anything to do with the Institute and wouldn't be qualified to teach classes there. This was awkward to me, since I've ICly and OOCly made comments about how Erik chose not to get himself directly involved with the Institute specifically because Hank was in charge and he doesn't much care for Hank, and he expected Hank to not want him anywhere near a teaching position. It was also uncomfortable since Erik and Hank had a thread in the past where Erik was explicitly saying that he would have been interested in teaching at the Xavier Institute in his own world, and he's been involved with the Xavier Institute in 616.
But more notably, I've been kind of uncomfortable watching some of Hank's interactions with Charles. Mainly, this came to mind when Hank was giving up his position as headmaster of the Institute. His decision to hand the school over to Angie and Kurt without considering Charles kind of came across as odd, since even given Charles' age (which is the same as Angie's), he's still a Professor, and was about to found the Xavier Institute in his world anyway. Not that I want to make it seem like I begrudge Kurt and Angie at all, or that I'm just upset that Charles didn't get the position. It's just that when I tried to suggest in your Plurk that Charles would be happy to help in some way, I didn't get any response to the comment and it felt like I was being ignored. I wasn't sure if you simply hadn't seen it, and I didn't know how to bring it up again in that Plurk without coming off as passive-aggressive. So Haley and I were already kind of sad that Charles wasn't considered for the position of running the Institute, and then when Hank made his Network post about it, his first remark to Charles about not making any trouble for Angie and Hank came across as awkwardly confrontational. A lot of Hank's interactions with Charles have seemed somewhat passive-aggressive, and it makes Haley and I afraid that it could be due to your favouring of the 616 versions of the characters over their XMFC counterparts. :(

The selection for Kurt and Angie being the backup if Hank should ever enter that position was actually put in place months ago, probably shortly after he was promoted to Headmaster, and largely because they're the two members of the staff who've been with the Institute in the City the longest. Angie, as the Administrator, was already responsible for a high percentage of the day-to-day operations of the school, and Kurt was the X-men in the City the longest. The "don't give Kurt or Angie any trouble" wasn't meant seriously, but if things were already looking this way, I can see how that would've come out wrong. For any weirdness in their most recent thread before that, on Quentin's intro, Hank was being a little curt and flippant, but it was mostly his way of trying not to panic.
I'm trying to remember how that plurk had gone and why I ended up missing the comment. Whether I'd gotten caught up in rambling or responding to something else, or just not sure how to address the suggestion from you when I hadn't heard from Haley about it, but I'm sorry about that. If that does happen again please feel free to poke me about it (and this comment right here can even serve as a free out on any passive-aggressiveness).
Though I do think it's important to note that Hank didn't explicitly say Erik wouldn't want to teach at the Institute and wouldn't be qualified, he said he wasn't sure that Erik had the inclination or qualification. Some of that is that he's Magneto, and if Hank wasn't on best standing with Erik in XMFC, he had a far worse opinion of him in 616, his admission to Utopia being one more reason among many that Hank ultimately left, among other things. (That period Erik taught at the school was one of the things that led the original five to leave and form X-Factor, I think.) Erik in the City, if he ever got to know him, he might have more potential to...not hate quite as much? But the fact is that he doesn't really know him beyond his potential/destiny to become the other man, and with him being much younger, he has no idea of his qualifications. So he pretty just has a lot of uncertainty and Magneto-feelings.
I think a good deal of the problem may have to do with the fact that I don't thread with either of you guys enough, which is really my bad and something I need to work on, but if we had more CR developed, than we'd probably have more to have a better impression with. Idk.
So, I'm sorry I gave you guys that impression, and I'll work on correcting it!

I think we should definitely thread together more. I'm probably partially guilty of dropping some threads, thought I intend to finish catching up on threads from my hiatus and tagging around more tonight. I think that Erik could definitely get to know Hank a bit more, even if he would continue to have a bit of a distaste for him in a similar way.
Since you didn't see the comment (I think you got caught up talking to Ali in that Plurk, which was why I was unsure if you had missed it), I figured I'd just throw it out there that Haley would really like for Charles to be involved in the Institute more (since she's taking a nap right now so I say what I want). Mainly since that was where he was going in canon anyway, so it would give him some good direction as a character. Also I think there have been a couple times where she got into awkward situations because new players to the game saw "Xavier Institute" and assumed that Charles would be in charge, so they came to him with matters involving the school, and he had to awkwardly explain that he didn't actually have any authority regarding the school beyond math class. As for Erik, I've considered having him get involved in the school in some capacity (since he's pretty chill with Kurt and Angie, and he does feel a legitimate investment in it at this point), I'm just not sure how. :|a

I think it would definitely be cool for Charles to get more involved. I know he's also running the Powers program, which is like the Institute's bread and butter, (i actually connected Haley and Oke for that purpose when Daria needed a way to discover her powers) but giving him some more public role with it might also be fun. Erik getting involved also sounds great, and having him and Hank have to get used to each other is an opportunity I would look forward to when Hank comes back...in whatever capacity he does.
