First: Welcome to Dreamwidth, Heroes. We are officially open for business! Lachesis has, for reasons you can probably guess, completely destroyed every communicator issued since 2008. They cannot be salvaged. Characters have been ordered to return to Stark Tower in order to receive their new communicators. As mentioned previously, each communicator will have a 7-digit number (on your journal profile!) and will be registered by your character's First and Last Name. Unless you're like Lust and you don't have a last name, you jerk. If and only if the character does not have a given name will it instead register to their Hero Alias. So n/a | The Major would appear as The Major.

Yes, everyone is expected to come. Even characters in prison or hospitalized. Complicated Legal Reasons!! The exception would be if someone's on, say, non-mobile life support or in a coma, but I'm pretty sure nobody qualifies for either of those at the moment. While you don't have to tag that log if you don't want to, why on earth would you miss the biggest and most widespread CR shindig? I ask you.

Anyway. There's a slight hiccup with the content importer at the moment; though we've successfully managed to drag all entries over here from the two comms today, it's sort of just... stopped and hanging listless once it hits the comment stage. Of course, I didn't realize this until after I nuked membership at capeandcowllogs. SORRY ABOUT THAT. Basically it means that any comments made between the night of the 22nd and now are in transit. Not lost! They will get here. But they haven't arrived on DW just yet, so we hope everyone will have a little patience and be willing to pick those threads back up once they ship.

Because of that hiccup, I won't be membership-nuking the main comm on LJ's side just yet. Grinbitch's post does indicate a frying of the Network, which will as far as IC goes prevent characters from making new posts/comments until after they get new communicators. But since we don't know how long this hanging queue will take, we feel it might crunch activity on posts made in the past week.

So:
All new top level posts: make on DW
Continuing threads from logs where most recent tag was within the past week: Put those on hold for now because I'm a dumbass.
Continuing threads from main where most recent tag was within the past week: Continue those on LJ until such a time as they appear on DW. Then segue over.

Overall, we're not quite as finalized as I was hoping by this point in time: the horrible adventures with the tagging system continue on, directory's still haphazard and missing pieces, I literally did not remember I still need to convert the profile information to this site until I started writing this post, I am staring into the maw of the world build and NPC FAQs and feeling terror, there's still a few months of "attack of the clones" comment threads, and so on, and so on.

But fuck it man. We're gonna get it all up and in shape in no time.
Apps open next Monday and it's going to be sweet.
There's probably going to be a app_this_plz round soon that we can solicit the crap out of.

So about that network explosion!

So! Prior to the network explosion of 2012, Aoi had been a little fed up with everyone's "phoniness" on the network. All that locking posts, and lying to each other and otherwise creating bad karma. Add to that his disappointment over Mister Mayor being evil (remember that alignment swap plot?), and Aoi was one disappointed kid.

Then the network died and it felt to him as if millions of voices cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced. His connection to the network, which has been near constant, and literally in his brain since Summer suddenly went dead. Bummer.

In an effort to fix this, Aoi has been tampering with the already unstable network 2.0! You know how olesia said certain locked posts would be easier to unlock given the right prodding? Yeah, uhh. That's happening. Here's the breakdown...

On February 3rd for a period of 12 hours (we'll say it starts at 12pm EST), any privated/encrypted conversations or posts on the old network (livejournal comm) will be viewable to anyone who might go looking. However! There will be no notification of this. The only way you'd notice it is if you went snooping. And really, with all the mess, who's to say if less than tech-savvy characters would notice anything anyway?

( Cut because this gets kind of awkward to explain and I tend to tl;dr and I don't want to clutter up the nice new ooc comm since it's all nice and new and stuff. )
