Capers is officially open! The log is here. As a reminder, your character will have their communicator with them, so they can make Network posts/interact with the Network still.
Any new questions/comments can go here, and this post can also be used to organized any plots-within-the plot you might like! There's opportunity for warrants being put out on rebellious characters who reject their roles, or gatherings at dance halls, or urgent secret messages by express courier, etc. Run with it!
The showdown log will come closer to the showdown date, so as to pace accordingly.

Skrull Plot anyone? /sign ups

Yo!
Sooooo this has been an ongoing plot for a while. In light of this conversation, and Jack recently being released from NOHOPE, Callie has now been actively trying to find people to support her, Julian, and Jack in their anti-Vulcanus/Skrull tracking cause. Meaning, she's been snooping around, looking over older posts and trying to dig possible candidates to support them.
What this is going to end up being-- Jack, Julian and Callie will pinpoint possible Skrull activity around the world... Their plan is to hold a diplomatic meeting with a Vulcanus-aligned government in hopes of exposing Skrull agents among their authorities... and it'll go from there.
This is where I need you guys~. So far, Callie knows that Spiderman is an ally of Bauer, so that will probably be her first stop. This is kind of like a plot sign-up, if you have a character that would be interested in actively helping out with the cause-- chances are Julian, Callie or Jack have investigated you and may be planning on recruiting you.
If you're interested, respond here with:
1) Character Name
2) Motive? (have they been vocal about their disapproval?)
3) Best way to contact them
4) What can the bring to the mission/Can they detect Skrulls?
8D With every character listed, be sure that Callie or Julian will contact them somehow.. probably ICly.
Feel free to ask any questions here and we'll clarify!

Wargames Wrap-up and Auf Wiedersehen!
Jul. 9th, 2012 10:00 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
The Wargames plot is officially over! This post is to hash out some of the consequences of two supervillains going to war in the City over three nights. Maddie and I put together some of the main points, any questions or anything that can be added can go in the comments. Thank you so much to everyone who helped make this plot such a blast; we hope everyone had fun!
( One last list behind the cut )
Finally, the Major's death at the end of this plot represents his final bow in C&C. After three years of evildoing, he has been finally been defeated for good and will not be coming back. By now I feel I've done everything with him I wanted to or could even think of, so I'm sending him off on a fiery, bloodstained high note (or low note for his victims). I'll definitely be finishing the threads he's involved in- especially his death thread. It's possible he could come back one day, but for now this is the end for him.
I've had a blast doing more audacious things with him than I would ever have thought possible when I first brought him in. I'm grateful for the amazing run he's had. Thank you to the people who've helped make it happen and made playing him here so much fun!

The Games are On
Jul. 6th, 2012 07:54 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
The log for Wargames is up! The Doctor and the Major are throwing down with their pet monsters and pulling the rest of the City into the fray.
The thread for the first night's happenings is up. This post will be updated with threads for Saturday and Sunday as the events of those nights unfold. All organizational stuff and questions that come up as things go on can be worked out here as well. Hope everyone has fun!
ETA: The Second Night is underway! Everyone can still start their own threads for generalized participation, and specific threads are up for playing out the joys of Nazi captivity and the ambush at Union Square. The Major has also posted with his demands, cold-bloodedly executing Joel Weinberg to drive the point home.
What's going to happen at the Square is that Floyd Pinkerton will call for help saving refugees from vampires, leading any heroes who respond into a murderous ambush by the Major's troops. Then the Doctor's monsters will crash the party, turning the bloodbath into a three-way brawl. For characters looking for the thickest fighting, tonight Union Square is where the party's at!
ETA2: Night 3 has begun, as the Wargames reach their climax. Tonight the Major and the Doctor are defeated along with their minions, and the Major's hostages are rescued. Tony Stark will be posting soon with the work of technical experts tracing the Major's location. As in previous nights everyone can start their own threads for generalized stuff! Tomorrow there will be one final wrap-up post for working out the aftermath of all this!

Wargames Signups and Organization
Jul. 3rd, 2012 08:02 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
Continuing preparations for this plot, this post is for sorting who is doing what this weekend beyond general monster fighting or assisting Cityzens (no sign-ups necessary for ass-kicking!). For the log itself, there will be three main threads, one for each night, and subthreads within the threads for playing out particular scenes- vampires vs. monsters vs. heroes on the first night or Major + hostages on the second, for instance. Let us know if you want a particular thread posted! In all cases monsters will be under your own control during fights; neither Maddie or I will be directly puppeting the NPCs. Let me or Maddie know if there are any questions!

City Wide Plot: Wargames
Jun. 30th, 2012 07:24 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
Question: Who loses when two supervillains declare war on each other?
Answer: The City caught between them.
Doctor Einsturzen and the Major would like to play a game. The game consists of them and their minions staging a battle of villain versus villain, with the City caught in the crossfire. This is their way of resolving a dispute more than two years old and indulging their love of pointless violence at the same time.
They have been preparing this for quite some time now, raising their armies and secretly moving them into position in the City. For three nights of chaos (July 6th to 9th), the City will serve as the chessboard between Einsturzen’s genetically-engineered monsters and the Major’s vampire soldiers, with other heroes and villains in between.
The ‘rules’ of the game (possibly to be refereed by another villain) are simple:
-The battle lasts until sunrise of the last night or the deaths of one of the players- offing the Major or Angie will stop the bloodshed. During the day it’s intermission, and the game resumes when the Sun goes down. If one of them dies, it’s an instant win for the survivor. Like getting the Golden Snitch but with more murder.
-If they both survive, the winner is whoever has scored the most points.
-Points are scored by destroying civilians and property in the City. Neither side has any hesitation in using random people for target practice.
-More points are scored for the destruction of minions, regardless of who does it- a hero taking down a vampire scores points for Angie, fighting the Doctor’s monsters brings up the Major’s score.
-BONUS points are scored for killing or capturing random Imports! These two want to drag as many people into their game as possible for maximum carnage. They will also be trying to get other villains to take sides in the fighting.
The three nights will be played out in subthreads in a log. The damage to the City and its populace will vary depending on the heroism displayed by player characters, but will almost certainly be significant. At the climax of the last night, both Major and Angelica will be tracked back to their bases and killed- leading them to call it a draw once they’re back.
Information on the respective teams and their strategies is in the comments. There will be another post later to sort out who’s doing what when; right now is just explaining what’s going down!

Feb. 19th, 2012 12:09 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
Oh my goodness, dear Network, things have gotten a little tense haven't they? All this paranoia running rampant, he's a Skrull or she's a Skrull -- crazy, isn't it? I hope you've been watching for suspicious behavior because I have. And let me tell you, you've all been interacting with a bunch of Skrulls. Talking to them, confiding in them, unwittingly helping them on their missions. Spooky.
Throughout the past week we've had a lot of beautiful drama, because of you all. We've had voices of reason and accusers alike address the Network, trying to work through this cloud of deceit, we've had evidence of people being tortured due to some aggressive merciless mercs who have no patience for Skrulls or Skrull-like behavior, and there's surely more to come from that.
But enough's enough, right? We can't have sadistic vigilantes randomly torturing individuals to weed out Skrulls, right? That's insane! That's what some jerk thought, anyway, and proposed an idea Mayor Mitchell.
So here's the breakdown:
On Tuesday, Mayor Mitchell Hundred will address the Network. City Hall is taking action. There will be a town meeting in which everyone is invited (of course, no one is obligated to attend). The goal of this meeting is to collaboratively select FIVE individuals who are most likely Skrulls and keep them quarantined for questioning from midday-ish Tuesday the 21st to early-ish Friday the 24th. They will be civilly detained, meaning NO TORTURE. They will be under police custody, and will not have the ability to private conversations until their release. On the upside, they will also be under police protection. So, you know, no one can torture them.
How will this work?
Mitchell will make a post and put up a log. The log will be town discussion style, where people voice their opinions and arguments. YES, IT WILL BE CHAOTIC. This is a perfect opportunity for drama.
I will put up the official voting poll in ooc because that's just the easiest way to organize this. Your character can ONLY vote if they ATTEND. You don't have to physically tag in, if you don't have the time or energy, you CAN handwave your character's presence. But in the sense of game canon, they have to have attended. This means -- and gear up for this -- ANY CHARACTERS CURRENTLY ON THE LAM ARE GRANTED MOMENTARY IMMUNITY. Literally the length of this meeting, and then you better be running. Basically, Skrull-Vulcanus invasion takes priority, villains have to work with heroes and so forth.
This is VOTE PER CHARACTER. If you play three characters and all of them attend, you get three votes. PLEASE VOTE IN CHARACTER, regardless of your ooc opinions and suspicions. I find it highly unlikely that three very different characters would all vote for the same person.
The five highest voted characters will be quarantined. If any of them are Skrulls, they will be UNABLE TO COMPLETE THE INSIDIOUS MISSIONS I GAVE THEM. So hooray! You'd be changing the direction of the plot with this victory!
What if I don't want to be a possible suspect?
No worries! This is non-compulsory, so if you don't want to have your character suspected, don't sign up for this post. HOWEVER. If you don't sign-up, you cannot vote for other Skrull suspects. The poll will only be opened to participating characters and don't think I won't cross-reference the list because I will.
Okay so maybe I DO want to be a possible suspect. What do I do?
First, look at the checklist. Will your character be attending the meeting? Yes. And you acknowledge the possibility that your character may be quarantined for civil questioning for a few days? Yes.
Okay!
Now all you have to do is leave a comment to this post. ONE COMMENT PER CHARACTER, PLEASE. You can sign up as many as you want, but do ONE COMMENT PER CHARACTER since everyone will be referring to this list when casting votes and we want to make this easy. Sign-up before Tuesday 10PM est.
If you have a question, please put QUESTION in the subject line so everyone knows you're not just submitting your character for voting.
ETA: technically sign-ups are closed but I am allowing a grace period until 11:23 PM EST to sign up in case you missed this/forgot to sign-up!

Yeah I've got a million of those Skrull puns.
So the random generator has spoken, and I have sent the fifteen PMs to our respective Skrulls (complete with their individualized missions). Remember that the first rule of Skrull Club is you don't talk about Skrull Club. But you can talk about it amongst yourselves, so for those of you who asked when you can start plotting with your fellow Skrulls you can do that now. Please don't do this in public, but rather keep it to the method discussed.
Imports will be replaced with Skrulls from February 15th to the 24th. It is your mission, my dear imports, to expose who is a Skrull and who is not. Your efforts (and success) will decide which fate this plot will take. Skrulls have been given instruction on how to act and what they can give clue to. Be on the lookout for suspicious behavior! Bear in mind that if a Skrull has a limb severed, that cut limb will revert to its original green tissue. A Skrull under severe torture can lose concentration and revert to its original form. But that's the kind of torture that could kill a human, even an empowered one... Sort of risky business...
If anyone says they are NOT a Skrull, icly or oocly, you are free to assume they are COVERING THEIR TRACKS. Only suspicious people claim to not be Skrulls outright.
Comments and questions will be unscreened here, which means IF YOU ARE A SKRULL DO NOT OUT YOURSELF AS A SKRULL BY ASKING ME A SKRULLY QUESTION HERE. Aw yeah.

So true believers players, do you remember about a year back when some weird countries popped into existence because of a reality rift that empowered the Porter? And do you remember that six different groups of aliens were thrown into the C&Cverse? They're small colonies of aliens from various canons, and they've been scattered around the solar system -- including the territory of Earth. Just ask the Major!
Although most of these aliens have been quiet for some time, recent developments indicate that silence can be deadly (gastronomical humor!). Since her second coming Dr. Candy Deconnick has been in fact -- a Skrull! And goodness, aren't Skrulls scary? They could be ANYBODY. But fear not, noble citizens, because you're not completely defenseless before this trembling threat. Indeed, someone's premonitions hinted at shapeshifters, but a malfunctioning Network really hindered the word.
In fact, that's a curious thing, isn't it? How the Network suddenly had to make a switch in the system. We all know that someone's hint of a rook seemed to be the major cause. But really, there's so much more. Skrull!Candy used Ghost to fiddle with the Network, thus unleashing encryption viruses and cross-posting and something more sinister within each and every new communicator.
So a quick refresher:
What are Skrulls?
In two words? Shapeshifting aliens.
Are these Skrulls aligned with Vulcanus?
Yes.
Can my character detect a Skrull?
At the present, ALL THE NEW COMMUNICATORS have a modified version of HIVE's power nerfer (remember HIVE? Circa 2009!) embedded within the device. It's the same story, but with a twist: if you activate your power while a Skrull is within ten yards, nothing enable you to detect an impostor import. No psychic abilities, no magic, no special technological suits, if there's a communicator nearby then you will not detect a Skrull by simply using your powers. Characters SHOULD NOT be able to detect that these nerfers exist YET. As the plot continues, there WILL be opportunity to make the discovery.
IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A POWER THAT WILL ENABLE YOU TO DETECT SKRULLS, YOUR POWER WILL NOT BE NERFED.
Because Skrull!Candy's cover was blown, these nerfers will be activated TOMORROW AT NOON EST.
So where are the Skrulls?
Ah, here's the fun part.
This is a sign-up post, ladies and gentlemen.
This post will be open and accepting volunteers until February 10th, 11:59PM PST. Randomly selected characters will be notified by PM the following day. Please submit one character per player, if you are interested in the lottery. We will randomly choose fifteen characters who will be replaced with their Skrull version from February 15th to February 24th. Players who are randomly selected will basically play their character EXACTLY AS YOU WOULD NORMALLY because Skrulls are highly advanced with their DNA splicing and personality mimicking. These particular Skrulls WILL HAVE THE POWERS YOUR CHARACTER HAS. They will talk as your character talks. They will remember what your character remembers. Their mission is simple: take out the Imports who will defend the City from Vulcanus.
And you, dear Cityzens, get to guess who is your friend, and who is playing spy.
And seriously if you Skrulls let it slip that you're a Skrull oocly, I will have a chat with you. It will not be a happy chat, either.
All comments will be screened, because this is a super secret sign-up. I will answer any questions.
ETA: To clarify, Imports to be replaced by Skrulls will not be abducted until February 15th. The changing process will not take longer than an hour, but when they want to introduce their Skrull is up to the player's discretion.
