Without further ado, welcome, Heroes, to the future. Well, almost.

Before we begin:
If you are a current player that is interested in staying for the reboot and you have not commented to THIS thread, please do so before 12:01 Monday (the 13th) morning.
Failure to do so will mean you and your characters will be considered dropped and you will have to wait until applications open in February to re-apply.

This post will serve three functions:

1. to delve into some further detail regarding some particular worldbuild functions that will be relevant to know particularly for the workshopping process, or that may have been tweaked since the last post, and general workshop expectations
2. to arrange jobs and housing for current characters since obviously they are bypassing the get-sorted-upon-app-acceptance part of this process, and what characters may bring with them from [community profile] capeandcowl to [community profile] maskormenace
3. to plot on! Much like a regular CR/plotting post, players can post top-level comments for themselves and their characters with what ideas they'd like to pursue in the reboot so far and what they might be looking for, just to start things on a solid note. Plan out as much or as little as you'd like to.

Hello, C&C! We are in the homestretch now; the reboot is upon us. This post contains the details of reboot; the WHATS, WHOS, WHERES, WHENS, and WHYS, so to speak. Below the cut you'll find basic summaries and information, explanation of function, intended mechanic changes, and dates. Comments and questions will be welcome at this time, from either current or prospective players, as this post is open to the public.

Details on C&C's final plot chapter, the one that will conclude this story arc and bring us into the next -- the part one endgame, as it were -- will be forthcoming later this week. Following that post, will also be another reboot-relevant post on the 12th to coordinate housing, what characters may bring from C&C 1.0 into the new setting, jobs, activity goals during the workshopping, and other minor details for current characters and players that would normally be covered through the application process.

Thank you again for your patience during this transition.

One small cut for mankind... )

CAPE AND COWL STATE OF GAME DISCUSSION POST

Hey gang. As promised, here is the discussion post that will serve, in lieu of an HMD this month, as a place for players (or prospective players, or former players) to offer their opinions, feedback, critiques, and suggestions about the idea for a game reboot or, if not that, an endgame after the New Year. Please read this whole post. We understand this is a busy time and all of us will be monitoring this post for as long as it's active, but we ask that players are patient with us in turn when it comes to response time. We'll try our hardest not to keep anyone waiting.

Anonymous has not been enabled for this post, as we would like to heavily encourage players to chime in with their names for a truly honest discourse. It's easier for us as mods -- but also for fellow players -- to know when it's a player speaking before engaging in a discussion with them, and we feel at this point it's more productive to be as straightforward as possible. In this sort of discussion, unlike with ordinary HMDs, identity does have weight and it is our players we are soliciting for discussion. However, if you are uncomfortable leaving feedback logged in we are not currently disallowing the use of sock accounts.

(As an additional reminder, each/all of the mods can also be contacted anon-enabled and IP-disabled outside of this post.)

Here's how it works: In the post below, several subjects that have been brought to us already as concerns will be listed and addressed to the best of our current ability, leaving opportunity for player feedback. As big a change as this is, we want to make sure the majority of the playerbase is on board with the same thing before we make any decisions one way or the other. As excited as we are about our reboot ideas, if ultimately they won't amount to much due to either disinterest, preference toward an endgame, or whatever else, we'd rather expend our efforts toward ending the game on a good note than developing a wholly new setting that won't get used. We will include, as well, a very brief blurb about the setting in case having an idea about our ideas makes any difference.

Each of us moderators will have a thread in this post where people can direct specific concerns of any kind to any one of us, and as mentioned above we also have our individual HMDs for use if it's more comfortable. The rest of post itself should serve as an open discussion not just to (with) us, but with your fellow players as well. We encourage people offering feedback and suggestions (or simply reading) to also go around and respond to others that are left so that whatever comes from this post can be, at least, a solid consensus.

Based on what discussion unfolds here, following this post -- after about a week -- we will post a poll, locked to the community, for players to finally register their vote in what happens. The reason this poll will be locked is because, given that this involves the future of the game, we want a method of ensuring that only players are voting.

Last of all, we ask that everyone please be respectful. We want to hear our players and react to their needs, and we also want our players extending the same courtesy to one another. It is okay to be critical or blunt as long as you're still courteous in the process -- there are no right or wrong opinions here -- but please avoid being aggressive or dismissive of anyone's points, even if you disagree with them. We will intervene if we see any hostile threads.

Hi CNC! As promised in this post -- but earlier than planned! -- we have a few announcements to make regarding the game that will be necessary to be aware of as we steadily approach the new year, because times they are a changin'.

First item of note: APPLICATIONS.
Applications will be closing Monday, December 16th (12:01 AM ET) and will remain closed throughout the rest of the month and into the upcoming months. We will have an exact date of when applications will be reopening again in January, when there will another post (sorry! sorry!!) that explains in further detail what we're preparing you for today. Many of the logistics and details are still being worked out amongst ourselves, which is why we are spreading out our distribution of information. We're sorry for any inconvenience this may cause, but we promise you there's a reason for it!

Second item of note: MOD PLOT.
For various reasons -- it being the holiday season both in-game and IRL, and because of our upcoming game plans -- the next chapter of mod plot will occur in January, not December. This chapter of mod plot will tie in with what we have in store for CNC both in and after January, and likewise ties into why applications are remaining closed (but reserves will remain open) for the duration. Again, more detailed information will be coming in January.

Why all the suspense and the secrecy? Well, CNC, we will give you a hint.
Mostly because there's a lot up ahead )

Hi CNC! (Again!) This time I come here with am official announcement, one that I'm making today as opposed tomorrow when our application cycle would normally be closing so that people can pitch on ATP or otherwise plan accordingly.

As of this Monday, November 25th at 12:01 AM ET, applications will not be closing and will in fact remain open consistently until Monday, December 16th at 12:01 AM ET, after which they will be closed through the remainder of December.

More information on this change, as well as a couple other related announcements, will be be coming Friday, December 6th.

Thank you!

Hi, CNC! As a reminder, all imPorts sent to Capers returned to the City as of noon on the 29th, but of course please feel free to continue backtagging your threads and logs and definitely enjoy all your new or continued CR!

There's plenty to take away from this rodeo, and I don't mean only dinosaurs. Between the injuries, the chaos -- even a death -- it's hard not to wonder who engineered this perfect foes for you in the first place, because they almost seemed to be expecting you. In fact, some imPorts may still need your help taking their metaman down, so if you're able to lend a hand by all means, do!

As mentioned in the original plot post, this was the final off-world chapter of modplot, meaning what remains will all go down on City turf. At least that can be prepared for!

Any questions and comments in regards to this chapter are also welcomed. Thanks, everyone, as always your involvement means so much!

Welcome back to the Cape and Cowl Plot Discussion post, for the month(s) of OCTOBER (the rest of it)
& November & December & January
!

I apologize, first of all, that this is coming to you so late! My bad, guys. However, the mod team has been discussing how better to utilize this post efficiently and not have it step on the toes of other player regulated plotting posts, and we've decided it's most efficient as a bi-monthly discussion/state of the game. That said, since December will be a busy month for everyone and we want this post to hit opposite months as the HMD/mod plots, the next one will be on January 4th or 5th.

As such, I've reformatted the structure slightly.

Remember, although access to Level Two closed after 8/31/2013 in order to reduce any great need for time retcons, you can still backtag within Level Two. Post your achieved action arcs and anything you're claiming as rewards here. Backtagging in both levels is of course encouraged, since some lovely CR has been made and is in the making.

Upon being ported back from Asthenoa, your character may have been ported back anywhere along the east coast (unless you were zapped from the game at 11PM 8/31/2013 on the dot, in which you return to anywhere you'd like within the City). If you wish your character to still have any injury sustained in Asthenoa, that's up to you. You are free to have your characters realize that they were never ported off-world, that in fact they were summoned into a video game the whole time. If they find the warehouse housing the Vulcanus video game (which has since malfunctioned and is defunct, hence why everyone ported back safely, but information about the video game coding can be deduced and thus incriminate Vulcanus).

The huge volcano might have been a hint, too. And the name Asthenoa.

Vulcanus won't know you know, in fact, they were hoping this ploy would garner more time for them to organize. So now's your chance to get gears in motion! Retaliation? Political outcry? Social media movement?

If you want to organize an imPort-led reaction, or if you have a plot idea inspired, you can discuss that in here! Any questions and comments in regards to this chapter are also welcomed.

Thanks, everyone, for making this chapter so fun!

The log for the next chapter of modplot is here.

The level two monster list is here.

The original informative post for this plot is here.

As a reminder, your prompts can happen ANYWHERE as long as they occur in THREE DIFFERENT TAGS. You cannot have three prompts fulfilled in one tag, you cannot have two prompts fulfilled in one tag. Ideally you will spread out all your prompts across different threads.

YOU WILL PROVE YOU ACHIEVEMENTS HERE. You MUST link ALL THREE OF YOUR PROMPTS before accessing the labyrinth level thread – otherwise known as Level Two.

YOU WILL PROVE YOUR ACTIONS ARCS HERE. You need two to seven COMPLETED action arcs to consider yourself a winner. You will not get any of the rewards if you do not prove your action arcs here in this post.

Have fun!

Hello CNC! Sorry to throw multiple mod-posts at you one after the other, but seeing as the summer is nearly over, we wanted to try something new.

Welcome to our new Monthly Plot Discussion post, for the month of September!

Bear in mind this is still experimental; while we do intend to make this a consistent monthly feature, if interest seems low in the future we may be adjusting the structure to better suit the game's needs. Therefore we encourage you to really make the most of it and let us hear your thoughts! Let this be as slow-burning as you need, there is still some time until September, after all.

Here's how it works: )

This is a quick announcement let you know that our bi-monthly game HMD will be taking place this Friday, August 23rd. It should go up in the late afternoon/early evening, around 3 PM PST/6 PM EST. As per our new HMD rules, if you have participated in one or fewer HMDs since October 2012, you will be required to post to this round by Sunday at noon EST. If you cannot make this deadline please contact a moderator. If you have participated in one or fewer HMDs since December 2012, this is the last round you may forgo before mandatory participation in October 2013.

For the newer players among us, please feel free to check out the HMD tag for more details on how we do this thing. We also have a post specifically for hearing out concerns about activity. Please read and follow the guidelines on that page, as this announcement pertains to the HMD.

Additionally, later today there will be another modpost designed to assist players in plotting together for next month; we hope to implement it as a monthly feature, depending on the response.

Thanks!!

Hey, cats and kittens! Though you should be expecting a post from me tonight, this is not the one you think it is. That's soon, though. This, rather, is an announcement a long time in coming, and I apologize for by how much.

Anyway! Getting to it: due to the departure of one of our mods, Jesse, from our team, we had opened up applications for someone to fill those shoes, and round us back up to a solid five. After much careful and difficult deliberation, we've made our decision. Thank you to everyone who applied for your efforts and your dedication, and thank you to our playerbase for being so patient.

Without further ado, please welcome Nita to your modteam!

You may know her as the person behind Kate Kane/Batwoman, Gilbert Nightray, and now Karen Starr/Power Girl. We are excited to take her aboard, and we hope that, together, we can better serve you.

That's all, and thanks for reading!

P.S., Well, almost all. We haven't quite settled on what her new moderator title will be, so please feel free to lobby suggestions. Thanks!

The logs are up for characters partaking in the New Vesuvius chapter of modplot (W, F, A, and E. This layout is organized by caste, and coordinated by event within that caste log.

As a reminder, you WILL have your communicator on you! You won’t want to be too bold with it, since the natives of New Vesuvius think the Network is now defunct, and this may be your only avenue of privacy. If you’re accessing the Network within your caste iMAC, the safest place is to broadcast from the shower (while clothed, ideally). You can walk around New Vesuvius, too, though be sure to heed the curfew given to your specific caste! If a curfew is detailed in the logs, that is the assumed curfew for the caste unless otherwise stated in the happenings or the Symposium.

There is no caste mingling with other caste members allowed within the specific caste logs (ie Only Caste A characters are allowed in the Caste A log). There will be a large gathering log entitled the Symposium that will come later in the week (the IC schedule is the 29th-30th). You are absolutely free to create your own logs and interact with other castes of characters that way. As imPorts, you MUST stay within the New Vesuvius city limits -- but anywhere within that area is free game.

The caste logs are organized by eventful “happenings”. There is the initial happening for each caste already up. There will be three happenings in total (three per caste), and then the open-caste Symposium log. For the sake of pacing, I will be introducing the next set of happenings within the caste log on Wednesday. The last set of happenings will be on Friday. These happenings vary in trauma, and you are free to handwave any happening that makes you too uncomfortable. If you want open log threads that are specific to your fellow caste members, you can put those in the caste logs. If you want to mingle with characters from other castes, you should make your own logs for that.

If you are partaking, please make a thread of your character's actions under the happening and tag into other people's threads!

Have fun!

Hey, C&C! This is your head moderator, here to talk to encourage you to become a moderator. Yes? Yes!

With Jesse's recent departure from our team, we find ourselves in need of an additional member to take up some of the workload, and bring us back up to a solid party of five. As such, we will be hosting moderator applications, seeking out that special someone for these shoes.

Modding any game is a demanding job, and C&C is no exception! You'll still have to app in your characters like everyone else, hone your diplomacy skills to a fine shanking point, commit a lot of time and effort to the game and its players, and read so many applications your eyes will eventually just explode. While it can be stressful at times, there's a lot of fun to be had as well, and being a moderator for this game has and continues to be a rewarding experience.

You will also get a sweet nickname, which in all likelihood will only be used for HMD's.

So, if you're interested, please fill out the following application form:

Comments to this entry are, of course, screened.

Death rules play a little differently on New Vesuvius. If you die on New Vesuvius, you are resurrected the same day (the very next second, in fact) back in the City – but with a consequence.

For reference and deeper explanation in the prior modpost, please go right here. That page is also the sign-up post for this plot, and sign-ups are open until June 24th.

As a reminder, these consequences last in the physical world of the Cityverse for exactly five weeks from the day of death/resurrection. Some of these will defy the physics of biology.
