Hey everyone! This is olesia (again), head mod extraordinaire, coming at you with a not-actually-quick announcement. And text forms! Everyone loves text forms, right?

Anyway, getting to the point: it's been about one year since we've last done one of these, and with players coming and going all the time, we're a bit overdue for Helpstaff Applications!

C&C's helpstaff are responsible for the updating and maintenance of our games many, many lists, including but not limited to hiatuses, reserves, player contact, taken characters, character tags, and so on. Some jobs are bigger than others, some pages requiring more frequent updates, but overall the tasks require a pretty solid handle on what can best be summarized as "not breaking HTML tables."

If you are interested in one of our many exciting positions, please fill out Prospective Helpstaff form and leave it in reply to this entry.

Current members of helpstaff: until helpstaff applications have closed, you are free from the chains of responsibility, so put down your pencils. Also, the password to the helpstaff account has been changed. If you are interested in continuing on, you will need to fill out the Current Helpstaff form and leave it here in reply to this entry. If not, you are free! Free I tell you.

As we may be reorganizing how many staffers will be needed per task (or, for that matter, how many tasks per staffer), we cannot yet provide a hard number of how many new/returning members will be needed.

Applications here need to be received by 11:59PM Eastern Time, Wednesday, April 10th.

Current Helpstaff:

Please note whether you are a PROSPECTIVE applicant or a CURRENT member of helpstaff in your comment's subject line. Thank you!

Hey guys! Just a quick little announcement for those of you interested in homestucks and homestuck accessories.

Recently we've solidified our general ruling on apping characters from new-and-or-in-progress series. For example, we'd like applicants to wait until the conclusion of the first season before apping from a new television series, or a new character in ongoing printed comics needs twelve issues of canon. This is to help ensure that characters applied for have enough canon to back up their history and characterization, and to help avert any sudden or unexpected early reveals from nuking someone's interpretation from orbit. This rule does not affect canons that are shorter, but which conclude in that period of time. For some canons, this rule can be a little trickier! Like Homestuck.

Anyway getting to the point: after some deliberation, the mods have decided that the characters Aranea Serket and Meenah Peixes will become appable during the round of October 8th -- 14th. Or in other words, during our next open app round. The other "Beforus" trolls will remain on hold.

However, we will not allow anyone to place reserves for these characters for that first cycle. This is to give all potential applicants who've been looking forward to this the same fair chance to write up and submit their applications, rather than preferential treatment to the person lucky enough to be the first to reserve. After this first cycle is through, both characters will be put in the same reserve/app as any other character, assuming they haven't already been accepted into the game.

That's it! You may now resume your regularly scheduled roleplaying.

hi
hi
hiatus for olesia, now with slightly fewer jokes about hating myself and wanting to die:

I'm going to a family reunion next week (departing Friday the 20th, returning ?????), and between an already-overwhelming burnout and the compounding dread and misery, I am basically useless to everyone.

So: starting now, Ruka & Yuma are on hiatus, and will continue doing ... whatever the hell it is they've been doing before, not even I have been keeping track of this. Between now and then I will be trying to get all mod-related matters cleaned up and squared away, but like always my inbox is an atrocious mess. Wrote the guide on gmail labeling and I still can't keep shit organized, that is how bad this is.

More importantly: for the period of time where I will be gone, Sara will be your acting head moderator, and Leah will probably get banned because I haven't done that in a while. Gabbie will probably keep everything running in the meantime, while Jesse will likely continue trying to undermine the proud tradition of mod nicknames and failing miserably. So, you likely won't notice any change from usual during that time.

That's all! Even though I cut this down a bunch, this is still stupidly long, so you have my apologies for that. You may now resume your regularly scheduled programming.

Hey guys! It's time for Yet Even More Modposts! Yeah! One day these will stop being every other day, but for now you are stuck listening to me babble a lot.

First things first! It looks like the comment import from logs comm was a success, so everything should be right where it belongs now on that side. I've skipped back a couple months to make sure the comment numbers per entry match, and for the most part any deviation is due to people picking up and getting going on the DW side. This is good! I have heard at least one instance of comments being duplicated in a single post and also being attributed to anonymous? This is not something I've seen myself, but if you see any further issues on the logs side, let me know! We are... still working on the tag issue. ._. Since main comm is huge and also because DW just opened up importing to everyone, the queue there is kind of obscene.

Second: As I've mentioned a few times, there's a small handful of players who have neglected or declined to take the appropriate steps necessary to follow us over here to DW. While I and the rest of the mod team have made our best effort to pull those stragglers in with all of you, even email missives and private messages have not done the trick. Therefore, as stated, those characters are now considered dropped from the game. Should those players wish to rejoin, they are welcome to -- though they will need to go through the full application process to do so. The total number of characters lost this way has been ten, and the full list can be found on the drops post.

Third: As you may have already noticed, we haven't quite managed to pull over every ooc informational post, and instead there are a lot of placeholders. We are still working on getting the rest cleaned up and streamlined (as we don't really need six or seven posts on setting alone, do we?). But some pages are up, and some information has changed. Under the cut I'm going to talk about the mod contact pages and information related to applications, where they are, and what's changed. In the coming days there will be additional posts covering, well, other posts! But you know how long-winded I am!

tl;dr if you skipped everything above, There is BRAND NEW INFORMATION ABOUT APPLICATIONS UNDER THE CUT. So if you are planning on applying for someone in the near future, you will want to read this.

So let's get this started, alright?

continued adventures in failing brevity )

It is about 3:30 AM as I go to post this, so if you have any questions // comments // concerns, feel free to leave them in the comments and we will get back to you when I am not dead.
