swordedpastHello, Cape and Cowl; I come bringing a plot. This time, it's scheduled to run from Saturday, August 3rd through Wednesday, August 7th. So why am I posting about it here this far in advance? Well, that's because it's a pretty complex plot that will require a fair amount of planning on behalf of participating players. It is, in fact, as implied by its name, a canon-swap plot.
What's going to happen is this: Archer, in a fit of self-destructive despair, challenges Lachesis to a fight in the hopes that she'll respond by writing him out of reality. He uses his own ridiculous ultimate power on her. She responds by going, pretty much, "Haha, see how you like it when you get dragged into a made-up world inside someone else's head," and proceeds to casually jumble up the memories and perceptions of him and a whole bunch of other imPorts.
In other words, for five days, everyone who wants to join in can have their character believe in an entirely new backstory based in the details of a different character's canon. Since it's all an illusion generated by the 'Porter, nobody needs to get those details perfectly correctly, and you can leave in as many bits of your original canon as you want to make things make sense. For instance: Jack Bauer canon-swaps into an Assassin summoned in the Holy Grail War, but his backstory is still the same up until he becomes a heroic spirit after his death; Lancer canon-swaps into a member of the Avengers, but he's still Cu Chulainn, it's just that he joined a superhero team instead of becoming a heroic spirit. As much or as little of a character's City history as you want may also be remembered, in an altered format if necessary.
Powers can appear to change as a result of this plot, but since it's based in illusion, affected powers will only work on other imPorts; they'll mysteriously fail to do anything to the environment and/or natives.
When it gets closer to the date of the plot itself, I'll make another post for players to post the finalized versions of their swapped backstories to. This post is for brainstorming and coordinating with other players to start hashing out the details. So feel free to post with general ideas of what you'd like to do for this plot, along with questions for other players about their canons or for me about the plot.
