✖ HOWS MY DRIVING?✖

New to the game? New characters? Just a little unsure of how you're doing? That's what this is here for, people.

How it works: Comment here - others will reply to that comment with what they have to say, and hopefully many lulz and happifuntimes will be had. We're encouraging asking questions if you don't know why or how a character got to the point they're at in game, and we're encouraging constructive criticism that isn't:

"Oh, you're so good bb!"
or
"I hate you. Diaf."

So make it good! You only get one shot every other month, right? At any rate, before you go off to comment, remember: You will get comments you agree with, and you will get comments you don't agree with; thus is the way of life. Don't take it personal. Don't get angry and start trolling. These people don't have anything against you as a person — unless, uh, they do, which we won't abide by — and we're all here to have fun, right? So let's act like it.

Anonymous comments have been temporarily enabled in the OOC community for the sake of anonymous crit, but as this privilege was abused last time and the moderators had to intervene, as promised we are keeping logging IP on. We will not be checking the IP-addresses unless things get out of hand, nor will we be sharing them ever, but this is a measure in place to help prevent further abuse of anonymous commenting. If this causes discomfort, most players, as well as the mods, have personal HMDs on their journals. You are also free to contact any moderators privately or by PMing this account.

Go forth and conquer, Cape and Cowl.

I don't mind tagging with Desire, but I think that you should stay aware that you're playing in a collaborative environment, and your character is no longer in the vacuum of its own canon. Being totally unwilling to consider Desire losing anything is very off-putting, especially in a place like C&C where there are other characters with potent reality/mind-altering abilities.

Hey, anon, thanks for the feedback!

I'm actually willing to have Desire lose! Desire loses in canon, particularly to Dream (which is why it decides to throw a snitfit and plots to kill him), but no one has actually come to me with any plots for Desire to lose, and I'm not always most forthcoming with plot ideas.

I suspect that some things I have said may be coming back to bite me in the ass, though, and so I think I should probably clarify: ICly, if Desire loses, gets hurt, so on, so forth, Desire's response isn't to brood or to accept it, it's to get up and destroy that person's life.

But if someone should bring a plot idea to me I'm willing to work with it! I'm perfectly willing to let Desire get hurt and/or lose (and I'm kind of building to that with it trying to bring Despair into the City, since we don't have anyone who wants to play Despair, to my knowledge, so this plan is going to blow up majorly in Desire's face.)

I don't know if that helps, so please let me know if I can clarify or if you have any more comments, and I'll keep this comment in mind for future plots! Thank you!

I was mostly going off of what you said in the last CR meme under the Are you willing to have your character get hurt?: question, but I have to say that I'm not certain that briefly being hurt or facing temporary setbacks before coming back to utterly destroy another character's life should count as losing per se.

Can I ask you to clarify for me, please? I'll explain how I see it and you can tell me if there's an issue with that:

In canon, when Desire loses a bet to Dream, it throws a bitchfit, then spend the next 200 years planning to kill Dream in a way that won't get it killed for spilling Family blood. It almost succeeds in the second volume of the comic, and then while it claims that it had nothing to do with Delirium's want to find Destruction, which caused Dream to kill his son and subsequently be killed by the Fates, the end of Brief Lives suggests very strongly that Desire was unconsciously behind it the entire time and now regrets it.

So here's my thing: I am fine, if someone asks me, for an IC-action that Desire get kicked in the teeth. But the IC-reaction is that Desire isn't going to sit around and passively take that: it's petty enough to want to kill it's own sibling for winning a bet and making Desire lose face.

So I suppose what I'm asking you to clarify for me is: what is it that you would like to see happen to Desire? For Desire to lose and not react to it, which I personally feel is not in-character for Desire at all? I understand that Desire is not the easiest character to plot with, which is why I very rarely initiate plots with Desire, and why I have an opt-out post if people don't want to play with Des on it's personal journal.
